E-mail 中 @ 的来历

    随着家庭计算机的普及率的不断提高，越来越多的单位和个人都喜欢建立一个自己的网站或电子信箱，那么   E-mail 中的 @ 代表什么意思？它是怎么来的？
    确定 @ 在 E-mail 地址中占有一席之地的人是美国电脑公司工程师雷·汤林森，1971年就职于美国  BBM  电脑公司，他受命寻找一种电脑地址的格式，能让用户方便地在网络间收发电子邮件，但这个符号除必须能分隔出两个可能无法直接辨识意义的符号组合外，还必须永远不出现在人名里。如此便增加了选择的难度和局限性。经过分析、研究和实验，他选择了英语发音为“at”的 @ 字符，能清楚完美地表达出：某人在某地，所以顺理成章地被选中。设计出的格式是：你的名字的代码 + @ + 你所用电脑主机的名字（或公司的名字）+ 这个电脑主机所属机构（公司）的性质代码。(如学校教育单位为 .edu ，政府单位为 .gov ，商业机构为 .com ，非营机构为 .org），最后再加上两个字母的国家码（如中国为 cn），但美国的国家码可以省略。这就是现在所用的 E-mail 地址格式，其中 @ 把用户与电脑地址分开，让文件在网络中传送而不会搞错或误读。

习  俗  节  日  英  译

    我国的习俗节日有春节、元宵节、清明节、端午节、中秋节和重阳节等。我们在把这几个节日译为英文时，大体上采用音译和意译两种方法。

1. “春节”，有时意译为 Chinese New Year's Day，有时也根据字面意思译为 the Spring Festival.

2. “元宵节”，因为一天有观灯的习俗，又名“灯节”，所以意译为  the  Lantem  Festival.

3. “清明节”，译为 The Day of Qing Ming，属音译和意译的混合物。也有根据这一天扫墓的习俗，意译为 Tomb Sweeping Day ( Festival ).

4. “端午节”，有时音意合译为 Duan Wu Festivals；有时意译为 the Dragon Boat Festival，因这一天有赛龙舟的习俗。

5. “中秋节”通常逐字译为  the Mid-autumn Festival，有时有前面加上 Chinese.  又因其俗称为“八月节”，所以有时又意译为 the Moon Festival.

6. “重阳节”，有时音意合译为 Chong Yang Festival.  由于我们把“重阳”也称为“重九”，所以有时也译为 the Double-ninth Day.

“英 国” 国 名 知 多 少

大家知道，世界上只有一个英国 ，可是这个国家的名称却有多种说法呢。你知道都有哪些吗？

1、Great Britain ：大不列颠

2、Britain：不列颠 (为 Great Britain 的简称)

3、England：英格兰(在不列颠岛的一部分)

4、the British Isles：不列颠群岛(包括在不列颠、爱尔兰和它们周围的一些小岛)

5、Albion：在不列颠 (为古希腊、罗马人对英国的称谓，多用于诗歌中)

6、the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland：大不列颠及北爱尔兰联合王国

7、the United  Kingdom ：联合 王国  ( 为一种简称 )

8、the UK：联合王国 ( 为 the United Kingdom 的缩写 )

严格地讲，只有第 6 种称呼才是英国的正式名字，其他 7 种说法都不能确切代表英国。正式名字一般只在正式、严肃的场合使用，在平时不太正式的场合，人们还是常常使用那些非正式的名字。
